New York- The surprise hit 300, portraying a last stand by Spartan soldiers to defend ancient Greece, was knocked from its stronghold atop the North American box-office rankings by a new version of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. According to preliminary studio estimates issued Sunday, the newly released TMNT revived the moribund 1980s cartoon characters with a Friday-Sunday gross of 25.5 million dollars.
300 slipped to second place with a gross of 20.5 million dollars during its third weekend in cinemas.
